I learned to play mahjong and was instantly hooked — the strategy, the laughter, the connection around the table. As a wine lover with my WSET Level 2 certification, I went searching for a wine-themed mahjong set that reflected that joy. But I couldn’t find anything close to what I imagined.

So I started dreaming.

At first it was just sketches — an idea that combined my love of wine and design — but with encouragement from friends and family, I finally took the leap to make it real. What began as a creative side project slowly became Crafted Mahjong™.

Designing the tiles became a surprisingly meditative process. I originally tried hiring designers, but nothing captured the modern, simple aesthetic I had in mind. So I decided to learn and do it myself — shaping each tile concept until it felt just right. I’ve always preferred larger, single-layer tiles with clean lines, so I designed exactly the kind of set I’d been searching for.

The first result was The Wine Collection — a modern, blush-pink mahjong set inspired by the world of wine: grapes, glasses, and champagne bottles, crafted to bring people together over something they love.

But as I created, another idea began to brew: The Coffee Collection. Many of my favorite games happen over a cup of coffee while the kids play nearby. That’s when I realized my inspiration wasn’t just wine — it was craft beverages in general. Because connection, creativity, and conversation so often start over a drink.

For me, that connection runs deep: morning coffee with my grandpa, an annual Christmas wine exchange with my best friend, and experimental cocktail nights with my husband. Each memory — and each drink — celebrates the same simple joy that mahjong brings: being together.
